Christmas 2009

Lordie, Lordie, ten years it's been,
Since Alex Stark became a part of our kin.
But now it's for real; a wedding in sight.
On July 16 Karanne becomes a wife.

Karanne follows her dream at a school each day.
Teaching children to read is her forte.
Alex works at a plant that is deemed nuclear.
But he's not radioactive, so have no fear.

About the granddaughters, what can I say?
They bring the greatest of joys each and every day.
Reya at 6 can read alone.
Iris at 3 is in her own talent zone.

Erin teaches and plans all school activities.
Directing teen theatre is her proclivity.
Isacc teaches music and travels with students,
New Orleans, Graceland, and performance engagements.

DJ works in metallurgy with Alex's dad.
Music still a passion, with hopes for a band.
He came back to live under our roof this year.
Mom especially likes having him so near.

Diane is a nurse. Yep, I'm finally there.
I don latex gloves and provide tender care.
Jim, the legend, the man, still substitute teaches.
No telling how many students in one day he reaches.

A Golden Retriever joined us in Feb.
Now we are caught in the great puppy web.
She chews through walls and knocks trees to the floor,
But those big brown eyes are hard to ignore.

We wish for peace in a couple of 'stans...
Afghani, Paki, and all other lands.
Health care for all would surely be great,
But we're not looking forward to the Senate debate.

May love abound in your holidays this year.
May you be surrounded by those you hold dear.
Please stop to see us if you're ever in Carlsbad.
We promise you a time that will surely be rad.
